Hello Friends, 🏃♀️There are 60 days left to the end of 2025. A good friend asked about having fun - specifically in challenging times when you may have forgotten how and what it feels like. It's a good reminder as some of us may have denied ourselves its pleasure for a while. Let's dive into three ideas to help you start scripting your best life. IDEA #1: Fun is what you make of itTHE INSIGHT: Everyone's definition of fun is different. FUN can be playful, humorous, entertaining, enjoyable, light-hearted, amusing. As long as you feel a positive uptick in your baseline emotion, I suspect you might be having fun. So whether you find yourself in - a tough spot or even everyday mundaneness, please know that including FUN in your life is a choice. Your inner world projects and your outer world reflects.
"Having fun is not a diversion from a successful life; it is the pathway to it." - Martha Beck "Time flies whether you are having fun or not." - Mary Engelbreit TRY THIS: Be your own FUN "Detective" Pick your TOP 2 words from this word scramble: PLAYFUL | HUMOUROUS | ENTERTAINING | ENJOYABLE | LIGHT-HEARTED | JOYFUL | BLISSFUL | AMUSING | PLEASURABLE With your 2 chosen words:
For example: Having your favourite drama series in the background while you concentrate on cross-stitching might feel blissful to you. If that is your definition of fun, embrace it. IDEA #2: "Required" ReadingTHE INSIGHT: Everything in its time. There are so many tomes to get through and so little time. This message is for people who are extra hard on themselves about reading and finishing the latest bestsellers because so many people recommended them.
“There is only one way to read, which is to browse in libraries and bookshops, picking up books that attract you, reading only those, dropping them when they bore you, skipping the parts that drag – and never, never reading anything because you feel you ought, or because it is part of a trend or a movement. Remember that the book which bores you when you are twenty or thirty will open doors for you when you are forty or fifty-and vice versa. Don’t read a book out of its right time for you.” - Doris Lessing, Nobel Prize-winning author TRY THIS: The Bedside Purge (Inspired by Open Loops) Colby reinforced Scott D' Clary's observation that mental clutter can drain our energy. These include:
These can be akin to the open tabs in our web browser. So while we're focusing on books that you're genuinely excited to read, this is a sign for you to tidy up your own book corner. Read things that capture your attention today and close that open loop of "someday" books. IDEA #3: Wind & SailsTHE INSIGHT: How powerful can thoughts be? VERY If you think "I don't feel ready to take on such a project", you are channeling your insecurities into developing an anxious emotion and projecting a hesitant and unconfident presence. In comes, a more powerful element that YOU already POSSESS => YOUR DECISION TO BE READY NOW "It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go." - Jim Rohn Direction of Wind = Your Thoughts Sails = What you choose to do despite your thoughts "Your thoughts and actions belong to you just like your possessions. Every so often, it helps to declutter—donate old clothes or clear out a crowded shelf. Maybe it's time to let go of some unhelpful thoughts or outdated actions too?" - James Clear "Montaigne, the great French philosopher, adopted these seventeen words as the motto of his life: ‘A man is not hurt so much by what happens, as by his opinion of what happens.’ And our opinion of what happens is entirely up to us." - Dale Carnegie TRY THIS: To Do OR not To Do
Good, Dumb Fun fills our CupIn line with the message of fun above, I present you an example of fun work. Amy Poehler's podcast concept is so refreshing! There are so many personal development podcasts in our consciousness. We needed Amy to come in with good, dumb fun. It reminds us to take pleasure in media that doesn't promise a lesson, an insight, a skill and a news-bite. (I do realise how ironic this is given my newsletter. But hey, I'm just sharing what I learn. 😉)
"Enough is enough. Enough with the 100%, enough with always trying to get better and better and better". – Amy Poehler THIS MONTH'S SCRIPT NOTES

Every fortnightly issue takes a founder communication situation — submitted by a reader — and breaks it down through three lenses: the social script, the inner script, and what to actually say. Plus a pop culture parallel you probably didn't see coming.

Today's issue is about a business owner who has the best systems and processes but can't seem to get her employee to follow them to a T. Thank you to Reader K for suggesting I include photos in the newsletter. :) If you want your issue to be considered for an upcoming Newsletter, just fill out this form. Hello Friends, Have you ever tried to explain your expertise to someone with little to no background in your field? How did you find it? In today's issue, we talk about how communications between technical and non-technical co-founders can be tricky and hard to navigate. If you want your issue to be considered for an upcoming Newsletter, just fill out this form. The Situation: Igor is a computer programmer and co-founder of a startup fitness app. His co-founder, Melissa is non-technical and...
Hello Friends, Welcome to March. February was a Lunar focused month. The Lunar New Year celebrations and the start of Ramadan fasting. It was a blend of higher social interaction and solitary introspection. There are people who look forward to gatherings and thrive in them. There are also those that dread and avoid them. As a Founder, it's easy to remain in build / focus mode and make it the default. It may be hard to see value in mingling, socializing and dare I say the word - networking,...
